We had 56 disco ball lighting shots in the "Lair of Tamatoa" scene of Moana. I worked with lighting department to create the bizarre and ludicrous environment of the scene. I developed a geometry-based lighting pipeline which allowed me to interactively design the light effects
I made different speed of pre-cached animated patterns. For 2/3 of 56 shots, lighters selected one of them and used it as their light source. They were used for shots where we don't see much of Tamatoa's motion.
